Rocky is a gorgeous 4 year old little man with a huge heart and an even bigger love for cuddles. Rocky thrives on human companionship and adores being part of the family – whether that’s snuggling up close or simply being nearby. He is affectionate, gentle, and incredibly endearing.

Rocky is fantastic with other dogs and truly enjoys their company, making him a lovely addition to a multi-dog home. He loves his food but has excellent manners and doesn’t beg at the table (although he can’t hide his excitement when it’s dinner time!) He is wonderful with children and is currently living in foster care with kids, whom he absolutely adores.

When settling into a new home, Rocky may take a little time to adjust, but once he has a cosy, snuggly bed to burrow into, he quickly feels safe and content. His sweet personality really shines once he’s comfortable. He’s recently discovered the joy of playtime – enjoying gentle games with small teddies, playing with his doggy friends, and spending happy time outside in the garden.

Rocky came into rescue after being brought to a veterinary practice by his previous owners, where he was sadly diagnosed with IVDD. With his best interests at heart, they made the heartbreaking decision to sign him over to rescue, feeling their lifestyle could no longer meet his needs.

Since then, Rocky has made remarkable progress with medical management using Gabapentin and Pardale. He has gone from being unable to use his back legs and requiring manual bladder expression to walking independently (albeit a little wobbly at times!) and clearly letting his foster mum know when he needs the toilet. As IVDD is a lifelong condition, Rocky may still have the occasional accident, which is to be expected, but with ongoing management, understanding, and love, he continues to thrive. The Red Foundation will cover medical costs relating to his pre-existing IVDD for a minimum period of 2 years from adoption.

Rocky is a resilient, determined little soul who has already come so far. He will make a deeply loving and loyal companion for a patient, compassionate home ready to offer him the comfort and security he deserves.
