Ash is a typical and vibrant dachshund with a massive personality and an even bigger need for cuddles. This little guy is incredibly sweet and thrives on human connection. Ash is very energetic and his favorite pastime is a lively game of fetch! He’s highly intelligent and already knows a host of impressive commands, including sit, wait, bed, and quiet. A great family dog, he is good with children and loves being the centre of attention; he truly is a bundle of character.

However, his charming qualities come with a few specific needs. Ash struggles with separation anxiety, which means he will loudly bark and howl when left alone. Prospective adopters must be prepared to help him manage this. Walks can also be challenging: he tends to pull heavily on the lead and while friendly, he can be reactive towards other dogs or outdoor stimuli, requiring a patient handler and continued training. Finally, he does occasionally have the odd accident overnight.

Ash would likely benefit from a daxie companion to play with and show him the ropes. He needs a committed home ready to channel his energy and help him feel secure and in return you’ll get endless amounts of love, cuddles and a new best friend for life.

All behavioural support needed to help Ash thrive will be provided by The Red Foundation
