Benny is a smart, sweet boy who struggles with anxiety. The world for Benny is a very scary place and he copes with this by being reactive, barking and lunging at anything he feels is too much for him. With the right home, Benny will thrive – but he needs someone who sees beyond the bark and into the loving and vulnerable boy underneath.

Benny gets overstimulated very easily and due to this we feel he would be best in an adult only home that is calm and quiet with low foot traffic.

Previously in situations where Benny has felt overstimulated he has nipped or re-directed bites onto his owner and although he has never broken skin he will need an owner who is understanding and willing to work with our behaviourist to manage this. He may benefit from a calm, confident fur-sibling to help him manage his insecurities.

In a calm and consistent environment with people Benny trusts, he is an affectionate and playful boy who loves scenting out treats in the garden and cuddles on the sofa under a blanket. Like a typical dachshund he doesn’t understand personal space and loves to give kisses.

Benny has so much potential in the right home to be a happy and well-mannered dachshund.

All behavioural support needed for Benny, will be provided by The Red Foundation.
