Dora is a sweet-natured mini dachshund who was privately rescued from a home where she was being targeted and bullied by other dogs. Before her current home, Dora was used for breeding – we know nothing about her life then and how she was treated but she remains an affectionate and friendly little dog who will be a rewarding and loving pet. Sadly, her current family are no longer able to give her the time and attention she needs and have made the difficult decision to rehome her.
Dora currently lives with another dog and we feel she would benefit from the continued companionship of another calm dog, following a successful meeting (although she could not live with an unneutered male). She also gets along well with sensible children and adores attention from her trusted people. At night, she is happy sleeping in her bed in the kitchen with the other dog in the home.
Outside the home, she loves off lead walks and is an active little dog, despite her age. She is not a fan of walking on the lead and currently refuses to walk when on lead but her current owner manages this by walking her off lead on the beach and in private fields, where she thoroughly enjoys herself. We will provide behaviourist support to help her overcome this if needed. Her favourite game is chasing a ball. She will ignore unfamiliar dogs and keeps herself to herself.
Dora is in good health apart from a skin condition which is currently treated with an anti-bacterial shampoo. Once settled, she can be left for up to four hours. She has the occasional accident (perhaps because of her use as a breeding dog) and is sensitive to unpredictable, sudden noises such as building work, these make her shake and look for somewhere to hide – her owner feels that living in quieter surroundings will help reduce her anxiety.
Dora is a dog who has come through challenging experiences and is still a loving, sweet little girl she deserves a kind retirement home where she can relax, chase balls and snuggle with her special people!
