Hattie is a beautiful older lady, whose world has been turned upside down after her mum became ill and has since been hospitalised. There is no possibility, sadly, of Hattie and her mum being reunited.

Hattie is a wonderful character who would very much appreciate a home where she can go out for a walk at least once a day, and have a warm bed to curl up in and someone who will give her unlimited belly rubs.

She is very much loved by her mum and it is important that she will be looked after by someone who will give her all the love and attention she deserves. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances, she has had to spend long hours on her own, but once the shock of this change wore off, she did entertain herself a little with a little reorganisation. She’s since settled down, but loves it when her aunty visits her every day to take her out for a walk, at which point she’s very excited and delighted to get out, and have some much deserved company. Besides curling up in a basket next to you, and accepting all the love you can give her, she will happily walk for an hour, and would particularly love going out in the car as she loves seeing new and familiar places. Her mum didn’t let her off the lead, so this should be kept in mind when she goes out.

Hattie loves going to the groomers for a pampering session. She’s quite clearly a lovely little Diva her family say that she’s really happy to see any groomer even ones she hasn’t met.

Despite her age, Hattie has been very lucky with her health, and her age doesn’t really seem to be slowing her down much and we think she would make someone who is experienced with the traits of this breed a wonderful companion. She can occasionally seem a little grumpy, but this is probably because she is a little fearful, but like many of our little friends, doesn’t want anyone to know her weaknesses; she is a softy inside. Her new owner just needs to understand her little grumbles and foibles and give her time.

She has grown up with a Tibetan Terrier, who was her willing slave, but she is a little fearful of other dogs, and as she chases the family’s cats, it would probably be best if she is in a cat-free environment, and probably one without other dogs. Her family tells us she is an incredible ratter!

We have said that she would be better with no children but we don’t really mean to do Hattie a disservice. As she didn’t live with children, she hasn’t had a huge amount of experience with them, apart from the grandchildren when they visited. She is happy to accept cuddles and fuss from them, on her terms. We feel that she deserves to be treated calmly, and new children might not always understand her fabulous quirky personality.

Hattie is house trained, sleeps in her bed in the kitchen, doesn’t mind a car journey. Hattie is a lovely dog, and deserves to spend her final years living in the lap of luxury, with people who will love her and spend time getting to know her.
