Otis and Albi are two young dachshunds with the sweetest souls, who have remained affectionate and gentle despite the recent uncertainty in their lives. They both adore human attention, love their cuddles, and truly enjoy getting out for their daily walks. Like many dachshunds, they’re curious, vocal, and full of character, making them a charming pair to have around.
These boys are still adjusting to change and aren’t yet used to being left alone. Their new family will need patience and understanding as they settle in — they have had some chewing incidents and the occasional indoor accident, but in a calmer, more predictable environment, this should improve. The Red Foundation can offer behaviourist support where needed to help them flourish. They currently sleep together downstairs, either on the sofa or happily snuggled up in a crate.
Out and about, both Otis and Albi walk nicely on the lead and have good recall. Otis tends to be the more confident of the two, while Albi looks to him for reassurance. They can be barky when they see unfamiliar dogs, but they’re easily distracted and quick to move on. Their current family feels they could live happily with another dog, particularly if the dog is a sensible, good role-model for them. They are not suitable to live with cats and, in true dachshund fashion, have a strong prey drive.
Both boys are in excellent health and ready for a loving home that can offer them stability, reassurance, and plenty of affection. With kindness and consistency, Otis and Albi will reward their new family with endless love and loyalty.
