Rufus and Lola are an adorable, bonded pair of dachshunds who love nothing more than a play and a snuggle. They are sadly being surrendered due to medical issues within the family meaning that the owner is unable to give them the love and care that they used to have and deserve.

Rufus and Lola are a beautiful, bonded pair who are looking for their forever home together. They are both affectionate, loving dogs who adore human company.
Rufus is a gentle boy who loves everyone he meets, whether it’s family, friends, or new faces, he’s always happy to say hello if it means getting a few strokes, cuddles, and plenty of attention. He isn’t too keen on cats and can be a little nervous around unfamiliar dogs, which is understandable as he was attacked by another dog when he was a puppy.
Rufus is diabetic and requires insulin injections twice a day, so his new home will need to be comfortable continuing his treatment and maintaining his routine.
Lola is a sweet and affectionate girl who absolutely loves to play fetch with her ball. Once she gets to know you, she’s full of cuddles and affection, but she can be nervous around unfamiliar people and needs slow, gentle introductions to help her feel safe and comfortable.
Earlier this year, Lola experienced two mild IVDD flare-ups, thankfully these both resolved quickly on their own with rest and care. She took things easy for a short while and has now made a lovely recovery, back to her cheerful self, running around and chasing her ball once again.
Both Rufus and Lola are fully house-trained and crate-trained. They’re used to sleeping together in their crate downstairs at night, travel very well in the car, and can be left for up to four hours without any problems. Like many dachshunds, they aren’t fans of cats, so they’ll need a cat-free home.
They currently live with a two-year-old and a teenager and are comfortable around children, but in their new home, they would benefit from living with dog-savvy children aged 7 years and over, who can respect their space and give them time to settle in.
All pre-existing medical conditions will be supported by The Red Foundation.

- A home willing to give them time and patience to settle in and feel secure
