Rufus is a handsome wire-haired dachshund who is looking for cuddles, snuggles and some peace and quiet! He is a much-loved boy but is finding living with two other dogs too much for him and his family feel he will thrive in a home where he can get the time and attention he deserves.
Rufus is a nervous boy, particularly outside the house after an attack by a greyhound when he was 18 months old. This has left him barky towards strange dogs (particularly large ones) and strangers and he currently wears a yellow ‘give me space’ jacket. He has nipped on two occasions about a year apart – once at the groomer and once when someone picked up his ball and ignored his warnings that this was not OK. As a result, we are looking for someone who will work with our behaviourist to ensure the adoption is a success.
Rufus is very affectionate and loves cuddling up on the sofa at the end of the day. He is a typical smart dachshund who is quick to learn and who loves to sniff and play with toys. He is nervous of visitors and will bark, but if allowed to take his time, he will calm and make friends. In the home, he is house-trained and happy to be left for a couple of hours. He currently sleeps in his own bed in his owner’s bedroom.
Rufus is in good health and is a gorgeous boy looking for a patient and calm family who can give him the space and attention he needs in order to enjoy life to the full.
