The Red Foundation was founded in 2017 when the Dachshund community came together to raise funds to rescue and spay an 18 month old female Dachshund named Red.

Our primary mission at The Red Foundation is to protect the health and well-being of every dog in our care, and this is very important to us. We are also advocates of the breed and take our role as social educators very seriously.

Lifetime Support
After an adoption has taken place, we don’t simply walk away from the dog and adoptive family. We provide lifetime support to all of our adopters, and we aim to stay in contact with them for the life of the dog. We invite them to join our closed adopters group on Facebook, to share their updates and pictures with the rest of The Red Foundation family.

A Wealth of Experience
The rise in popularity of Dachshunds over the past decade has unfortunately resulted in more dogs requiring new homes, and owners requiring advice.
The Red Foundation team has grown since 2017 and we are now a Registered Charity.
We are 100% Non Profit and our casework volunteers team is growing every year to meet demand. Our volunteers also have “day” jobs, but being dachshund owners and having a love for the breed means they spend all of their spare time helping dachshunds to find new homes.

Lifetime Care
A lot of the dogs surrendered to us for rehoming have pre-existing medical conditions. This can be anything from a minor allergy to intervertebral disk disease or complex and rare conditions. As a charity we commit to supporting these lifelong medical costs so that our adopters do not need to worry if insurance will not cover the condition or they are unable to fund treatment themselves.
We are reliant on donations to fund the cost of these lifetime conditions, along with the everyday costs of neutering, dentals and vaccinating our dogs. If you wish to help us and donate please get in touch or click below to donate.
