Prince is a handsome, playful, happy dog who needs a home with a patient and calm person who is willing to help him settle and work through his anxieties. He adores his special people and can’t wait to meet his forever family. Prince came into our care because, while settling into a new home as a private rescue, he became frightened and unfortunately bit a child in the house. While this was a distressing incident, we believe it was rooted in fear rather than aggression.
Due to the situation Prince was surrendered to us and had to be moved quickly, he was moved to kennels to enable him to decompress and provide an opportunity to assess him and prepare him for his new forever home. He is doing really well in kennels and coming on leaps and bounds, however he misses the interaction he used to get in a family home. We are confident that with consistent, calm care and support from our behaviourist team going forward, Prince will settle and become a calm and loving boy.
Prince’s previous owner describes him as a loving and affectionate boy who is happy and loves to play. He enjoys walks and is excited when he sees other dogs, but has had limited exposure to them so his new family should be prepared to teach recall and work on helping him to become a well-mannered dog.
At home, Prince is crate-trained and house-trained. He does not like to share his toys so this would need to be managed carefully, particularly if he is living with another dog. He struggles being left on his own, and will bark for a time before settling. He does not like cats.
