Hello my name is Daphne
I’m a miniature wired haired sausage dog who loves nothing more then cuddling up with mum and dad and going on walks along the beach.
I was rescued by The Red Foundation in October 2023 at around 5-6 years old, severely underweight at just 4.1kg, with a chronic skin condition from living with fleas and had very little fur as I was so itchy. Worse still I have severe limb deformities due to not being able to move around much when I was growing and developing as I spent most of my life in a crate. My before and after photos show you how far I have come.
My Mum & Dad stepped up as an emergency foster and my journey back to health began. I have had lots of trips to the vets and my weight and skin are now much better, but the vets were unsure how to treat my legs and if they could be fixed. A plan was proposed but but was very risky with only a 30% success rate. Due to both of my front legs being affected amputation was not an option as it would be too hard on my little body.
Mum & Dad soon decided to adopt me and decided that as I was a happy little girl and loving life now, to not take the risk and try and manage my pain through medication. This is done with a combination of medications and a monthly injection which is working wonders for me! I am not in pain now and am able to run along with beach, and my favourite things is laps of the house when I get the Zoomies! I do love a game of fetch with my ball, although the game is more to see if Mum & Dad can get the ball out of my mouth!
My monthly pain medication is very costly but the costs are covered by The Red Foundation and their wonderful supporters and sponsors. I can not live without them, just like many of my TRF doggy friends so please help us all by sponsoring me or another Red Foundation lifetime dog.
